Looks like Airtel is going all out to fight Jio, with all kinds of new offers lined up. From buying your iPhone straight from AirTel to super-cheap plans, they have everything to lure a new customer. But how do the plans compare each other? Here are a quick review and comparison of all the brand-new offers from Airtel and Jio.
Buy iPhone directly from AirTel
According to AirTel’s new offer, you can buy an iPhone 7 directly from AirTel if you switch to their postpaid plan of Rs.2,499 monthly. So, basically, this offer is like the contract-based plans in the US, where the customer does not pay any upfront money but gets a phone when he gets on a yearly contract. The price of the phone is paid over a period of time, being on the monthly postpaid plan.
However, in AirTel’s iPhone 7 offer you have to pay an upfront amount of Rs.7,777. (iPhone 8 is not yet available.)
Jio had launched a similar plan earlier where you could buy the iPhone 8 from them directly if you switched to their postpaid plan. Here’s more info on Jio iPhone 8 offer.
Under AirTel’s iPhone 7 offer, you get the following.
- 1 Free Connection for Family
- Unlimited Calling
- 30 GB Data per month
- Free Handset Damage Protection
What you pay is a one-time payment of Rs.7,777 + Rs.2,499 x 24 months (2 Years contract).
So, effectively you will be paying Rs.67,753 to get an iPhone 7 in AirTel’s case. That actually makes no sense. Because an iPhone 7 (32 GB) costs only Rs. 38,999. So, why pay more money, even though in the long term?
Well, if you don’t mind that and want to get an iPhone 7 for Rs.7,777 and don’t mind the Rs.2,4999 monthly bill, then this is a good chance.
