Buying a laptop can be confusing. With so many different models available in the market, choosing one that fits your needs can be challenging. One way to find the best laptop is to narrow down your searches to your budget. If you go by features, you’ll find some great laptops but you’ll be disappointed at the price.

So, when someone asks me which is the best laptop, I ask them what their budget is. This will help narrow down your choices and make a better selection.

India is a price sensitive market, and everyone is concerned about the price. I think this is a good thing. I’ve found that India has a lot more varieties and choices when it comes to electronic gadgets. For example, when you go to a store like BestBuy in the US, you’ll find perhaps 30 – 40 different laptop models on display. But in any Indian electronic store, I can bet that you will find at least 50 different laptop models. That too in different varieties, right from the Chinese knock off model to Apple.

Anyways, in this article, I’ll try and help you choose the best laptop for you under Rs.25,000 Rupees. So, let’s start.

What is your purpose of buying a laptop?

First off, you have to be clear on why you are buying a laptop. The reason is that, depending on your use, you could look exactly for features that will work for you in a laptop. For example, if you are a graphic designer, then obviously you need a high performance laptop, but if you are a student, you only need a basic laptop for taking notes etc. So, before buying a laptop, ask yourself this question.

“Why are you buying this laptop? What is your usage?”

Best Laptops Under Rs.25,000

Laptops under 25,000 Rupees are made for specific use cases. For example, casual internet users, or students. These laptops are meant to do the basic stuff neatly, without being expensive. If you are a college student, your primary goal with a laptop would be note taking, internet browsing, projects, word documents, project assignments etc, right? Well, what you need is a decent laptop that can multi task but don’t need too much processing power. You obviously don’t need hard core graphic engines or other fancy features you may not use.

With that in mind, here are my best laptop suggestions under Rs.25,000.

Lenovo Ideapad 15.6-inch Laptop for Students – Great tech, No OS.

Rating :

lenovo_laptops_under_rupees_25000This laptop is pretty big in size with a 15.6 inch display. That’s great for taking notes and browsing etc. Also, its processing power is decent and will do the job for you. It’s got a Core i3 processor from Intel. It’s enough for some serious multi tasking you do, like listening music while browsing, taking notes in MS Office and perhaps chatting along on the side. It’s got 2GB of RAM which is great support for multitasking. And the memory/storage is… 1TB!! That’s pretty awesome storage for a student laptop. You can store a huge number of songs and movies on that disk.

This is a great laptop for students, with enough memory to multitask and enough storage to store projects and multimedia, this laptop will last a long time for you. The best part is that it only costs Rs. 24,490!

The Good > Great value for money laptop, Nice tech specs, Great performance.
The Bad > OS. You have to load Windows OS separately.
The Ugly > If you don’t know how to load OS, then oops! Skip this.

Dell Inspiron 3542 15.6-inch Laptop for Students – Great Tech, Ubuntu.

Rating :

best_laptops_under_25000_indiaSo, if the above mentioned Lenovo laptop was missing in OS (Operating System), this laptop from Dell comes with almost equal specifications as the Lenovo, and with an OS. That’s the difference.

The size and display of this laptop is the same as Lenovo Ideapad mentioned above, the only difference is that it doesn’t have a 1 TB storage space, instead only has 500 GB. Not bad, but when you compared with Lenovo, there is a difference. You could make that up by buying out a separate storage device anyways. And the OS that comes with this laptop is Ubuntu. Did you say “What?”. Yep, it comes with the open source OS Ubuntu, which fans argue is the best OS out there but all the best getting used to it. I’ve tried Ubuntu and let’s just say, it isn’t very friendly. For the price, this laptop is great value for money, but if you don’t know how to operate Ubuntu, then you might want to skip this.

The Good > Great value for money, Great tech specs, Amazing performance.
The Bad > OS is Ubuntu. Ouch!
The Ugly > If you don’t know how to operate Ubuntu, move on the next laptop.

Asus A540LA-XX039D 15.6-inch Laptop – Looks like Macbook Air

Rating :

Under_25000_laptopsSo, we’re coming down on price here and things are getting better. How? Well, this Asus laptop is a competition killer. If you compared this laptop alongside with other laptops  just mentioned above, without knowing the technical specifications, you will go for this one. Why? Because it looks neat and much like a Macbook Air! And then, when you come down to technical specifications, it isn’t very bad either. It’s got an Intel Core i3 processor, with a 15.6 LCD display and a 1TB hard drive for storage! That’s pretty awesome! In fact so much better than the first two laptops mentioned here. So, what’s the catch? Yes, no OS. You will have to add it yourself.

The Good > Great tech specs, Great performance.
The Bad > OS. You have to load Windows OS separately.
The Ugly > None.

Best Laptops Under Rs.25,000 in IndiaThis is the best laptop in this list so far..It’s got everything balanced. Great processing power with a Pentium Quad processor, 1 TB Storage and 4GB RAM and Windows 10 pre-installed. In the laptops mentioned above, either there was an OS missing or hard drive was half the capacity. But Acer has managed to balance everything without losing out on any major features in this laptop. Priced at Rs.24,999 I think Acer has got it right!

The Good > Well balanced tech specs, performance and looks.
