Such a lovely gesture by BSNL.
BSNL has launched Aadhaar-based online verification for new mobile connections. Non-Resident Indians, senior citizens above 70 years and physically challenged persons can avail this option.
According to the company statement…
“Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a simplified re-verification process for…NRI, senior citizens and physically challenged persons. This web-based application can be used from the comfort of home.”
So, basically BSNL consumers of the above mentioned categories can verify their mobile connections sitting at home. They don’t have to physically come to the telecom office for verification.
Telecom companies have been facing a lot of flak recently for insisting Aadhaar verification of connections. This gesture from BSNL will make things easy for senior citizens and others who have trouble physically moving (or not available in the country, like NRIs) to verify their mobile connections.
Hope other mobile networks also follow suit.
