BSNL just launched an amazing offer for its customers on 2017 New Year’s eve. Unlimited calling to any network in India, for just Rs. 144/month. And that too with an internet of up to 300MB completely free for that month!
From what I know, this is the cheapest internet + unlimited call option available in India today. With this, the cell phone plan wars in India have been take to another whole new level in 2017. AirTel and Reliance Jio had come up with very good plans last year.
If you compare different data plans available in India today, things are looking very promising as more and more companies are getting aggressive with their rates. Here is a comparison table you can use to compare different mobile 4G plans in India today.
There are two trends I’m seeing with the Telecom sector now. One, is that unlimited calling is becoming the standard. It is painful for customers to keep track of their plans with X number of hours on anything. Unlike that, if plans become standard with unlimited network-network calling, it would be great – just like in USA.
Second, internet data become more and more available. Gone are the days when internet data was limited. I hope Telecom companies become liberal with data plans and offer generous plans with unlimited data (with perhaps FUP limits). This will sure push the economy to new heights and make internet accessible for more people in India, helping it get cashless.
