Nokia – You know the name… they’re back. With a bang. We’ve heard the rumors in the news, but now there are specifics. If you’ve been wondering when the new Nokia’s Android phone, the Nokia 6 will be available in India, then you have to wait a little bit more. As of now, the much awaited Nokia Android phone is coming only to China by 2017 mid, as reports suggest. There’s no official word on when it would come to India. However, unofficial sources suggest that it might be coming to India by end of 2017, and there’s reason to get excited. Read further…

Why should you get excited about Nokia’s Android phone?

Nokia 6 India PriceYou should. I am.

One, because it is Nokia. You cannot write away that company, yet. It was once the king of smartphone market with it’s highly durable set of feature phones. But as smart phones came into picture, Nokia got faded away. We haven’t heard back from them for long.

But we all have an emotional attachment to Nokia. And I want the company to win. They’re good with tech, just that they weren’t fortunate as some other companies. Beyond the emotional bit, there’s more…

Reason 1 – An all metal, tough & durable smartphone!

Just like all the old Nokia models, that are popular for it’s durability, the Nokia 6 too will sport an all metal look. Which means, it is more durable, more strong and will last long! The meta is a 6000 series Aluminium – with smoothened edges and curved 2.5D Gorilla glass on the front. Tough as it can get!

Reason 2 – Features that’ll give competition a run for their money!

I’m not saying that it’s got the best features out there. But it is a total surprise package. We’ve all seen the best features in the segment with Apple iPhone 7 Plus, One Plus 3T and the like, and you would imagine that Nokia might come with an average specifications list. But no! It’s got features as good as the best phones in the segment. Take a look…

Display – 5.5-inch 1080p display (as big as the iPhone 7 Plus)
Processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 4 GB RAM
Memory – 64GB of internal memory (expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card slot)

Reason 3 – Music to ears!

If you’re a music lover, this will be music to your ears! The Nokia 6 speakers are special. They come on-board with dual amplifiers and supports Dolby Atmos sound technology. We haven’t heard about that in a smartphone lately.

Reason 4 – Amazing cameras!

The Nokia 6, features a 16-megapixel camera (iPhone 7 plus has only 12 megapixels) on the rear with f/2.0 aperture with Phase Detection Autofocus and dualLED flash. There’s also the 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. Nokia 6 is also backed by a 3,000mAh battery, which provides up to 24 hours of battery time!

Reason 5 – One hell of a price!

If reports are to be believed, the Nokia 6 will be priced around Rs. 16,000 to Rs.20,000 in India. Compared to competition, this is going to be a much competitive price. Nokia has experience with Indian market, and looks like they’re using it to their advantage. Less price, more features is a sure shot win in the Indian market.

Summary: If you’re planning to get a new smartphone in 2017, wait for the Nokia 6.

In totality, the Nokia 6 seems to be a bomb of a phone. With packed features that stack up against the biggies like iPhone and One Pluses, it appears as if Nokia is back in the game. The company seems to be giving a lot of importance to this phone, which is a good thing. I hope they use this phone as a way to get back in the game and keep continuing with it.

One concern I have is whether or not Nokia will be able to continue support and development of this phone and the series. I hope they do. Because, Nokia as a brand is a household name in India, and it still is a welcome member to the family. It’s kinda like that long lost uncle, who ran away to Mumbai. I hope he comes back, but this time with his new kid – all smart and decked up!
