Xiaomi has launched its new smartphone with a 90 percent more front display. Mi Mix has been designed by a French Designer called Philippe Starck. The stylish design of the smartphone is going to be the new trend and definitely be competing in the smartphone market.

Xiaomi had a reputation of copying designs and branding from Apple and Samsung, but this design will create an edge. The USP of this phone is its front display which provides a wide and greatest possible screen area. The screen to body ratio of Apple’s iPhone 7 is 67.7 whereas Xiaomi’s Mi Mix has up to 91.3 percent.

How did they expand the front display?

Xiaomi has grabbed the space occupied by the front camera, proximity sensor and ear speakers. The front camera has been moved to the bottom of the phone and replaced the ear speaker with a piezoelectric speaker that uses the metal frame of the phone to generate sound. The proximity sensor does the job of turning off the screen display when the smartphone is brought closer to the ear. Most phones use an infrared sensor at the top of the phone to do that. But Xiaomi has replaced it with an ultrasound wave and a software to do it.

What else does Mi Mix offer you?

  • Mi Mix has 16 mega pixel camera with phase detect auto focusing.
  • 4,400 mAH battery
  • two sim slots
  • Snapdragon 821 processor

The price of 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage will be $516 and 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage will be $590. This strategy of Xiaomi is to clearly revamp the brand name rather than the sales. But I am sure, this affordable smartphone is going to be a big hit in Chinese market.
