Ever felt like updating your mobile number in your Aadhaar Card online is like trying to score a century in the last over of a cricket match? Daunting, isn’t it? But hey, remember how Dhoni pulled off the seemingly impossible in the 2011 World Cup?
That could be you, with a little guidance from us!
So, dust off your batting gloves, or in this case, your keyboard, and let’s hit this for a six together!
In this article...
Step 1: Visit the UIDAI’s Self Service Update Portal
Your digital expedition begins at the UIDAI’s Self Service Update Portal. Click here to reach the portal.
Tip: Bookmark this page. It’s like your base camp for all Aadhaar related services.
Step 2: Click on ‘Update Your Address Online’
While you can’t directly update your mobile number online, there is a workaround.
Click on ‘Update Your Address Online’. You’ll need to use your current mobile number linked with Aadhaar for this.
Tip: Don’t worry, we’re not going off-course. It’s just a detour.
Step 3: Log in with your Aadhaar Number
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, captcha code and click on ‘Send OTP’.
You’ll receive an OTP on your existing mobile number.
Tip: Keep your phone close, you don’t want to miss the OTP while you’re contemplating the mysteries of the universe.
Step 4: Request for Address Validation Letter
Once you’re logged in, click on ‘Request for Address Validation Letter’.
You’ll need a ‘Verifier’ (a family member, friend, landlord, etc. who can validate your address) for this.
Tip: Choose a verifier whose mobile number is correctly registered in their Aadhaar.
Step 5: Follow the Process and Update Your Mobile Number
Enter the verifier’s Aadhaar number and wait for them to receive an OTP and confirmation message.
Once they approve, you’ll receive a Service Request Number (SRN).
You’ll receive an Address Validation Letter with a secret code via post.
Tip: Yes, it’s a bit of a roundabout, but every expedition has its challenges!
Step 6: Update Your Address
Once you receive the letter, revisit the ‘Update Your Address Online’ page, click on ‘Proceed to Update Address’, then on ‘Update Address via Secret Code’.
Enter the secret code, review the new address and submit.
Tip: Be patient, you’re almost there.
Step 7: Update Your Mobile Number
After the address update, you can visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment center to update your mobile number.
Now, that you have a recently updated address, this process should be smooth.
Tip: Carry your Aadhaar card and the new mobile number you wish to update.
Conclusion
And there it is! You’ve hit the winning run, and successfully updated your mobile number in your Aadhaar Card.
Just like a cricket match, every online procedure might seem like a nail-biter, but with the right strategy (or guide, like us), you’re always ready to take the cup home.
So, do a victory lap around your living room, and get ready for the next innings!
Note: The umpire’s decision is final, so always refer to the official UIDAI portal for accurate information and updates.
