Citi PremierMiles Card Review – Great for Frequent Travelers!

Are you a frequent traveler? Wish there was a credit card that could reward you for all those travel miles accrued? Well, with the Citi PremierMiles card, you’ve got your answer.

The Citi PremierMiles Card is a great credit card for those who travel a lot. With the Citi Miles programme, you can earn miles on both local and overseas travel, and redeem these points for miles on a wide range of frequent flyer programmes. The first time I heard about this card, the first question that came to my mind is, where can I redeem these points? Can I fly any airline and get the reward miles or is it restricted to only a selected few?

Citi PremierMiles Credit Card Features India

Citi PremierMiles Card Review IndiaWell, Citi PremierMiles Visa Card offers several complimentary travel perks, and also lets you earn rebates when you shop at any of their over 500 participating retailers in India and abroad. I like the fact that this card is meant for folks who are globe trotters and the features and benefits are not just limited to India. But note that, it says “participating retailers”. That means you can only redeem points only at chosen places. However, on joining itself this card will earn you 10,000 miles. You will then get 1200 cash back on MakeMyTrip domestic flight booking in India. (MakeMyTrip is one of the participating retailers luckily).

So in a nutshell,

  1. 10000 Miles as activation benefit
  2. Earn 10 Miles for every 100 spent on airline travel
  3. Earn 4 Miles for every 100 of all other spends (purchases during travel etc)
  4. Redeem your miles at over 100 airlines available on Citibank’s selected partner airlines
  5. Redeem your miles up to 3 hours before take off
  6. Can be used in India and abroad
  7. Access to premium airport lounges across India
  8. Value added services – Instant loan, air accident insurance, easy payment and balance transfer options

Interest Rate & Charge

Interest rate on the Citi PremierMiles Visa Card is 33% to 44% per annum.

First year you will have to pay Rs. 3000 as yearly fee. I wish if this was zero as it doesn’t make sense maintaining this card if you’re not that frequent a traveler. But like I said, this is meant for really heavy traveler and not once a while travelers.

Would you recommend Citi PremierMiles Card in India?

Yes. Only if you are a frequent (very) traveler and you don’t want all those air miles go to waste. However, Rs.3000 yearly fee could have been avoided for this card.  The benefits are very good, with a host of flights available to make use and redeem all those points you gathered.

If you don’t find this card useful, there are several more options available here, check it out.
